ExpressVPN is cheaper on every tier - both upfront and at renewal. NordVPN’s introductory prices look competitive, but the renewal hikes are aggressive. On the Basic tier, NordVPN renews at €139.08/year (a ~72% jump from the introductory per-year rate). ExpressVPN’s Basic renews at €79.95/year - a much gentler increase.
Here’s the trap: NordVPN’s 2-year billing page shows the total renewal price in small print. If you don’t catch it, you’re auto-billed at nearly double what you paid. Class-action lawsuits were filed in California and North Carolina over NordVPN’s auto-renewal practices (per CNET). ExpressVPN has cleaner renewal disclosures.
